An asylum for the preservation of illusion.

So Would That be a Pollock-Projection?

A Google Alert recently brought to my attention the existence of the blog http://www.chicagoist.com/. I'm not quite sure what it was, but something about the tone--the pretentious folksiness of it--made me smell a carpet-bagger. And as it turns out, I was right! The site is run by the New York company Gothamist LLC who, in their desire to add all trendy cities to their repertoire, seem have located Toronto a wee bit north of Montréal.

Welcome to the New Blog

I've been wanting to do something with this blog for some time now. I created it to be a index of essays I've written, rather than a conventional blog, but found that nobody is actually interested in reading a blog that is updated two or three times per year, so I've decided to move to a more conventional format--complete with a pretentious name and shorter, less-researched (but more frequent) entries.

I've switched from a dynamic to a statically generated site. This has reduced considerably the resources needed to render the site but has also caused the comments to disappear. I intend to figure out how to fix that shortly. I've also switched from textile to Emacs Muse for markup.
