Many, Many Changes

When I redesigned the neighborhoods website back in January of last year, I did so with the intention of making it easier for me to make updates. That was successful. At that time, the project was stalled after more than a year in existence with only a few dozen neighborhoods photographed. As of today, only 10 neighborhoods are left unavailable on the map. While the project has moved forward quickly over the past year, I've been much less diligent about maintaining the changelog. I hope to change that today. From now on, I resolve to make a new blog entry every time I make a major update to the project site.

What follows is a summary of the many changes made but not recorded in the past year.

  • Essentially the entire south side was not photographed at the beginning of this year.
  • Most of the far northern and western neighborhoods (Edison Park, Dunning, West Ridge, etc) were photographed since the changelog was updated.
  • A few traffic albums were added.
  • The Other Cities section has been completely rewritten and is now navigatable via a series of maps. Detroit and Ontario as well as a number of Chicago Region and Southern-Illinois cities have been added.
  • Montréal has been given its own city neighborhoods map. San Francisco also has its own map but the images are not available yet. The Toronto pictures have been removed temporarily until I can create a map for it.
  • Just today I added pictures for Pullman, Riverdale, and South Deering, and I added a sub-directory in Pullman for the Pullman Historic District.

So as one can see, it has been a productive year, and I expect that the main portion of this project will come to an end in the next few months.
