Recent Changes of neighborhoods.chicago.il.us

This is a living document that contains the most recent changes made to http://neighborhoods.chicago.il.us. Please note that this document is updated as I make the changes, but the changes to the website are often not committed for several hours. So if a change exists here that is not on the site, check back the next day. Because this is a living document, the date below express the last time it was updated.

January 16, 2005

New photographs, captions and commentary have been added to the Hermosa neighborhood.

July 18, 2005

I’ve made many changes over the past week or so but have taken the time to put any in this changelog. In the first place, I’ve added pictures to the Portage Park, Irving Park and West Ridge neighborhoods. I’ve also finally created the Traffic directory as I mentioned in the NewNeighborhoods document. It is the temporary location of my Canada pictures, which will eventually be propagated into the Other Cities directory when I decide how to organize them.

July 24, 2005

I’ve moved the Québec gallery from the temporary Canada directory of Traffic to the Other Cities directory, and made other improvments to that directory.

Dear Jordan,

We moved from Chicago to the Detroit area six years ago, which for myself, has resulted in an incurable case of home-sickness.
From time to time, I would cruise around the web looking for pictures that reflected what it is really like to live in Chicago, and for the most part the material I would find would really miss the mark.
Your site, however, hits a home run.
From "Doggie Diner" to "St. Jerome's Catholic Church", I felt as though I was walking down the street on my way to the "L".  (By the way, "St. Jerome's" is in Rogers Park at the corner of Lunt and Paulina.  For 18 long months, I lived in the building you had your back to when you took the picture from across the intersection.)
I've bookmarked your site, and I look forward to your updates.  Thank you so much.

Great site.  You need to cover neighborhoods more far-flung from the center, though.  I've lived in Mount Greenwood, Gladstone Park, Logan Square, Humbolt Park, Wicker Park, Andersonville and Lincoln Park.

cj: I've had a number of requests for the south side. The truth is it's just rather hard for me to get down there as I live in Logan Square and since there are still neighborhoods within an easy bike ride of my apartment, it's easier just to hop on my bike and go to one of those when I get time to do a photo run. I plan on setting aside a few weekends when I get the time so I can really get a large amount of the south side done. Hopefully soon..

In the mean time you might want to check out http://www.picturingchicago.com as they seem to have a good collection of southside pictures.
